You can save a lot of money on gasoline by switching from premium grade gas to regular grade gas.
Unless you are driving a high performance vehicle, there is no need for premium instead of regular. Premium gasoline is not cleaner, it does not deliver better fuel economy and it does not make your car faster. What it does do is reduce “knocks” that occur in high combustion engines. If you drive a Honda or a Toyota or a Buick, you do not have one of these engines. If you drive a high-end BMW or Mercedes (or a Ferrari) you probably do have one. But hey, if you drive one of those vehicles, then you probably are not reading this blog!
Before you send more of your hard-earned money to our so-called friends in the Persian Gulf, stop and think about whether you really need to be spending the extra money. Check the owner’s manual for your vehicle to see if your car requires premium gas. Chances are, it does not. You may be wasting up to 50 cents a gallon, simply because you are misinformed about the (lack of) benefits of using premium gas in your car.
Could you use an extra ten bucks every time you fill your tank? That’s how much money you could be saving on each fill for a standard tank. Don’t spend money on premium gas. It is simply not worth the expense.
