Buy a Coffeemaker

This tip seems like common sense. With retail single-cup coffee prices ranging from two dollars for a regular brew at Dunkin Donuts to nearly five dollars for a Starbucks mochfrapahooha, you can nearly bankrupt yourself with your morning coffee expense.

If you’re in the five dollar fancy coffee drink club, you are spending $150 a month. And that’s if you’re only drinking one a day. I’ve noticed that many people who frequent coffee shops buy considerably more than one a day.

I successfully ditched my two Starbucks a day habit and got myself a good old fashioned coffee machine. This one from Walmart only costs 40 dollars. That’s eight days of per-cup purchases for a $5 a day coffee purchaser. Of course, there’s the cost of the beans to consider, but you can buy them for a few dollars a pound at the grocery store.

If you make your own coffee at home, you can effectively reduce your spend to pennies per cup.

What would you do with an extra $150 per month? Maybe pay down that credit card debt? Is your coffee really worth that much?
